How does Laser hair removal work?
We concentrate a beam of light from our FDA cleared, state of the art laser to target the pigment (color) in the hair follicle. The heat from the diode laser damages the hair follicle, which inhibits future hair growth. During a laser hair removal session, our highly experienced staff will apply a cooling gel to the area being treated to protect the skin and reduce discomfort. They will then use a handheld laser applicator directed at the hair follicles. The laser targets the melanin (color) in the hair follicle, which absorbs the energy and heats up the follicle.
What are results from laser hair removal?
Our state of the art laser damages the follicle and impairs its ability to grow hair in the future.
Multiple sessions are typically required because hair grows at different times. Lasers work on only the active follicles that are ‘awake’ and growing hair. Repeat sessions can then treat follicles that have just left the dormant ‘sleep’ phase. Thus complete and lasting laser hair removal of the treated area is possible over the course of a package of sessions. For many patients hair removal will be permanent. How many session will I need?
Number of sessions for complete hair removal varies by the area being treated, and factors such as thickness and color of the hair, and skin type. Most people see excellent results in 6 sessions. 12 sessions can achieve complete hair removal for many patients. Some need more sessions initially and or occasional touch ups yearly.
