BOTOX COSMETIC NEUROTOXIN

What is Botox?

Botox is the brand name of a cosmetic neurotoxin we offer in our Las Vegas offices. This protein temporarily blocks muscles under the skin. These are the muscles that otherwise create wrinkles. Botox is the first and only treatment FDA approved to temporarily improve moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines in adults. Treatment requires no downtime. You can return to your daily routine and need only a few days of mild precautions. Contact us here for an appointment.

What areas can Botox treat?

The classic areas are the ”11 sign” or ”worry sign” between the eyebrows, forehead wrinkles, and crow’s feet. Expert injectors such as Dr. Thaker may use Botox for other areas such as wrinkles below the eyes, ”bunny lines” on sides of the nose, ”smokers lines” around the mouth, along the jawline, or in the neck for neck wrinkles. Dr. Thaker teaches other doctors various injections methods and for these different areas. It is important to choose a physician injector with a high degree of skill and experience.

What is microbotox or micro-botox?

Microbotox is a special treatment Dr. Thaker offers and teaches other M.D.s where injections are more superficial and smaller so the treatment can cover many areas. This yields very broad coverage for fine wrinkles around the eyes and across the face. Ask Dr. Thaker if this is right for you in our private treatment rooms in our Las Vegas office. Additionally, microbotox may help minimize pores and oil production, which can result in a smoother and even complexion. Microbotox is often used to treat the face, neck, and décolletage areas. The procedure is typically quick and relatively painless, with patients experiencing only minor discomfort and temporary redness or swelling at the injection sites. The effects can last for several months, but individual results may vary.

When will I see results?

You may begin to notice results within 24 to 48 hours for moderate to severe frown lines.
Botox delivers predictable, subtle results, so you look like you, only with less noticeable facial lines.

How long do Botox results last?

Results typically last between 3 to 6 months, depending on the area treated, the amount injected, and individual differences in metabolism and muscle activity. However, some people may experience shorter or longer durations. We have seen as long as 12 months of results and as little as 2-3 months. It’s important to note repeated treatments are necessary to maintain the desired results.

What are the different types of botox?

Botox is a brand and they make Botox Cosmetic and one for muscular diseases or migraines. Since this was the first neuromodulator, many call all of the newer drugs ”botox” as well. This may be similar to ”kleenex” for paper tissue, or ”xerox” for a copier. Some refer to these as ”lower case botox” versus ”upper case Botox Brand’. We have used all the neuromodulators now available in the US and have taught other M.D.s how to use them as well. These include Xeomin (fast acting), Jeuveau (strongest in some studies), and we are one of the first in Las Vegas to use Daxxify (longest acting). We will pick the right one for you. What is the ”rule of threes” for Botox results?

There is a famous ‘rule of threes’ that is a useful general guideline. Botox takes 3 days to start working, peaks at about 3 weeks, and at 3 months you may seek another treatment. There is tremendous variation however. Many people get 3-6 months of results with regular use.

Is getting Botox painful?

We use special tiny needles that are so small and thin, they can bend just by entering the skin. These are the smallest needles available. Some patients find simple ice can make injections even easier to tolerate. Most do not report much pain at all.

Are there other kinds of Botox?

Botox is a brand but people call all cosmetic neurotoxins ”botox” as well. There are a handful of competitors and Dr Thaker has used all versions. We can help you select what is best for your treatment goals. Contact us here for an appointment.
